It's also in the book which I happen to have and can scan for you. Give me a day as I have to get to sleep.

What did they do, let Troi's great-great-great grandmother take the ship out for a spin?

Re: Anyone have a high res pic of crashed Columbia from the SOTL calen

Makes me wonder how a ship that landed in soft sand looks so denty.

Re: Anyone have a high res pic of crashed Columbia from the SOTL calen

^Well, if you're falling through the atmosphere at several times the speed of sound...

Re: Anyone have a high res pic of crashed Columbia from the SOTL calen

see? that's what happens when you don't build a spaceship on a planetary surface in the first place, they get all denty when they land on one later. :)

Re: Anyone have a high res pic of crashed Columbia from the SOTL calen

Since I first saw this picture on the calander, I always thought this would be one cool diarama to build. I don't know if I'd build it in 1/350th scale though, the diarama would be the size of a table top! 1/1000th scale could be fun, but then you'd barely make out the shuttles and forget seeing any people walking around...

It doesn't look Denty so much as it looks like it has buckled under atmospheric stresses and the stress of the impact.

This is an excellent idea, dude and I had never even thought of it until you brought it up. The only problem is that the 1/1000 is way to small, you had have to use the 1/350 kit. The key would be to assemble the kit, cement it together using Tenax, and use either a heat gun or a blow dryer to soften and warp the plastic, then putty, sand paint and decal and you've got yourself a crashed Columbia.

I wonder if the Columbia was abandoned when it crashed or if the crew was still aboard.

Re: Anyone have a high res pic of crashed Columbia from the SOTL calen

Mwahahahahahhahaha...the Borg lure in the Federation with an S.O.S. from the crew of the Columbia. Several hundred years ago, the Columbia's Captain & crew had been accosted and assimilated. But due to Seven & Janeway's brief re-connections to the Collective in "Endgame" & "Unimatrix One", learned of their existence & separated them from the hive mind. Now individualized, the crew of the Columbia is being used by the Borg Queen as the source of a permitted "mayday" to ambush Starfleet in 2379 / 2380.

I wonder how, after a couple hundred years, the hull is still quite clean looking . . .

Re: Anyone have a high res pic of crashed Columbia from the SOTL calen

Ok, call me lost. Please explain how and when iut crashed, and why someone mentioned a 100 years have passed. I watched ENT and never heard of this event. Thanks

Re: Anyone have a high res pic of crashed Columbia from the SOTL calen

As far as I know, it's non-canon, but the story goes that Columbia was somehow brought to the Gamma Quadrant and crashed on a desert planet, and was later discovered in the early months of the Dominion War. I have no clue how it got all the way out there in the first place.

In the spirit of ENT Season Four, I randomly decided that Columbia was studying the Bajoran system (without making contact) when they were caught in an ion storm in the Denorios belt, which was caused by the opening of the wormhole. Columbia then drifted into the wormhole, and emerged in the Gamma Quadrant. The ship was heavily damaged by the ion storm and the trip through the wormhole, and they were forced to make a crash landing, which had the unfortunate effect of killing the entire crew.

Mmm, fanwank. :p

Re: Anyone have a high res pic of crashed Columbia from the SOTL calen

This is supposedly going to be answered in the upcoming Destiny trilogy of novels

Re: Anyone have a high res pic of crashed Columbia from the SOTL calen

I think the people are too large. It seems out of scale.

Re: Anyone have a high res pic of crashed Columbia from the SOTL calen

I was just thinking the same thing...
