anyone gonna watch Raising the bar?

Sephiroth

Vice Admiral
Admiral
the 45 minute law-drama pilot is being aired without commercials at 10pm today on TNT, anyone gonna catch it? i think it'll either rock or suck, depending on what happens with Jane Kazemric(sp?)

It's about defense attorneys, so no, I'm not gonna watch.

(I have nothing against the profession, mind you. But most *shows* about defense attorneys tend to suck, be extremely preachy, and/or get quickly cancelled, unless they're called L.A. Law.)

The Practice went for a while, just don't talk about the mass staff firing.

I've been watching TCM play some good courtroom films today, but it's laced with gratuitous Steven Bochco plugs on this show. Looks...eh..hard to tell.

If any cops use the phrase "all jammed up," I'm changing the channel.

If any cops make off-color remarks in the presence of a corpse, I'm changing the channel.

If any character suddenly goes berserk and has to be subdued, I'm changing the channel.

If any attorney breaks the law and the cops cover for him, I'm changing the channel.

What other Steven Bochco clichés should I look out for?

I haven't seen a single positive review, and none of the commercials really caught my eye. Skip.

Within the first 10 minutes there was inappropriate behavior by supposedly professional people while they were at work. That was another Steven Bochco cliché, so I turned off the show and found a DVD to watch instead.

I really don't see anything here that I want to watch. If I'm going to cram more TV viewing into my schedule, it has to be pretty darn interesting and somewhat intelligent.

This does not appear to be either.

I hate legal shows, they're all the friggen same. The only one I can stand is Damages, and it's very different from the standard-issue lawyer show.

I love Bochco's stuff for the most part but pass. This looks too pretentious, preachy, grating and in your face. I've seen parts of the first two episodes and it's horrid.

It was meh. I have seen both episodes now and not sure I would watch another.

So if Steven Bochco and David E. Kelley made a show together, would your head explode from all the in-your-face preaching? :)

Meh. The commercials made it look like L&O with some gratuitous sex. I made it as far as the first scene of the female judge being an unreasonable bitch before I changed the channel.

I think more than my head would explode. I think the Earth might be reduced to rubble if such an event occured.
