Anybody seen this comic? Nicholas Courtney tribute...

That was fantastic. Considering the artist, at least, is an employee of IDW I'll be very disappointed if this doesn't end up in the next annual!

Then prepare to be disappointed, Alex. :)

IDW's license doesn't cover things like that, mixing new and old Who, as they discovered after The Forgotten.

Please elaborate. What happened - did they get into trouble or sued or something? And if that's the case, why are they being allowed to reprint the DWM strips? You've got a possible scoop here as none of the forums or websites or magazine articles I've followed on IDW have ever made mention of an issue with The Forgotten. Certainly didn't stop them from reprinting it all as a graphic novel, which I believe was even published in the UK.

And anyway, if IDW doesn't print it, there's no reason why DWM or an annual couldn't.

Alex, it's not a secret and it's not a scoop. Tony Lee mentioned the problem two years ago here:
Unfortunately the BBC announced shortly after we announced the ongoing, that there would be no more previous Doctor stories allowed in comics.

So sorry, but it's unlikely to be happening.
There's some speculation in the thread at IDW's forums that makes a lot of sense, particularly on the issue of likeness rights. Reprints wouldn't be affected by that, since the material is already extant. Or it could be that IDW's license to create new comics only extends to the current series and not the older material, like a reverse of the Big Finish situation.
