Anybody see "Moneyball" yet?

I just saw it with my friend and we both loved it. I think it might get a Oscar nod. Brad Pitt was great in it. I'm a big baseball fan so I was familiar with the Billy Beane person and the story so I enjoyed that aspect of it. It does a good job of exploring what it's like to run a Major League baseball team in a era of big market and small market teams.

I saw it last week. Very good film, and engrossing even to someone who couldn't care less about baseball.

I'll see it next week. It looks and so far sounds good. And I hate baseball.

Oh, and Drive was great. I spent like two days afterward thinking about Albert Brooks.

I had no interest in Moneyball until I found out Sorkin was involved. Now I will definitely see it.

Unfortunately, there's nothing in the film that speaks with Sorkin's writing style. But it is still a good film.

Yes, it was quite good. Good writing and good performances by all concerned. It never ceases to surprise me how such a dull sport can serve as the subject for such interesting movies.

Drive was very good as well, though it was easily the most arthouse-y crime movie I've ever seen. I understand now why Manonthewave couldn't get Albert Brooks out of his head.

Don't watch much Michael Mann or David Mamet do you? ;)

I read the book years ago and loved it. I really want to see this, but since I have kids, and my wife has no interest in this I probably won't get to see it until it comes out on DVD.

I'm going to try and see it this weekend. Steve Zallian also co-wrote the movie with Sorkin. Zallian of course did the adaption for "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo". The script actually went through numerous drafts The original draft was written by Stan Chervin.

Actually, I do. And I recognized some of the allusions to Mann's work, like the Miami Vice-ish credits and music.

But I thought Drive out-Michael Mann'd even Michael Mann.

Just got back from seeing it and I really liked it. I don't remember that much conflict between Billy Beane and Art Howe though (And living in the Bay Area and following the situation every day, it did hit close to home) but other than that, it was a very good movie. I doubt it's a best picture contender, but I can see it being nominated for best adapted screenplay and maybe even Actor for Brad Pitt.
