Anybody into the band Kamelot?

Kamelot, the progressive/power metal band from Florida? Anybody into them?

I just recently bought their 8 studio album catalog, after a long procrastination. And I'm totally impressed with their style of music. A great mixture of power/progressive metal with symphonic and gothic tones.

Thomas Youngblood is a genius on guitar as well as Glenn Barry on bass. Can't figure out which vocalist I like better, Mark Vanderbilt or Roy Khan. Mark sings in a Geoff Tate style, while Khan sings in a more operatic style.

I like them both, too. Got into the band when their first album was released, so I love the early stuff - but then again, I was already a fan of Roy Khan when he joined the band (his old band Conception was at least as great as Kamelot, IMO)...

Yeah, the early stuff is good. Better than I would have thought. Reminds me of Rage for Order-era Queensryche. God it's ashame Queensryche went the way it did.

Anyway, I love the odd melodic changes in Thomas' guitar playing. Very progressive stuff.

It's funny the band is often catagorized as power metal, but it's definately progressive metal as it changes melodies often throughout its songs. I originally called it power metal too, but after seeing it classified as progressive on one site, I was like "Oh yeah...why couldn't I see (hear) it."

Yep. Love this band. I heard The Haunting on SIRIUS Hard Attack last year, and got the collection (including the live One Cold Winters Night CD).
The last 2 CDs (Black Halo & Ghost Opera are, by far, my favorites, though they're all great). I like these 2 best because I've really gotten into symphonic metal (Nightwish, Epica, After Forever - all Finnish) recently, and they (plus the CD Epica) are closer to that style of music.
They are actually an American band from Tampa, Florida and Roy Khan is from Norway. They're probably more popular in Europe, most people here are more into nu(crap)metal than quality stuff like Kamelot and the like.
I like Khan's vocals so much, I even bought the 4 Conception CDs last month. They were hard to find, and the musical style is quite different (more Norwegian hard rock/metal than anything). They aren't as amazing as Kamelot, but still good.
If you can get a hold of good copies of Kamelot videos on .divx format (for example) do so, all the ones I have are pretty cool. I got them from Stage 6 videos before it shut down. Now I can't find anyplace to get .divx quality downloads from. I'll see if I can put the ones I have on my comcast webpage and make them downloadable.
