Any Sailor Moon Fans here? Important news

The music for the transformation speaks of power and beauty rather than emphasizing the beauty. I always thought Sailor Venus's music particularly sounded better suited for a pageant rather than a pretty warrior about to go kick some butt!

I think I'm going to try to see if I can get my niece into this. She was into Winx Club and now is on a My Little Pony kick so I'm thinking this might be appealing. Then I can act like I'm only watching it for my niece mu-ha-ha-ha. :)

My four year-old daughter is a second generation Sailor Moon fan, with my wife being a first. We went to Japan to see the new musical last year, the spouse has done so twice before, and our house is littered with merch.

I'm more on the Gundam and Macross side of things, but will be watching this as there's nothing wrong with a good, nay great, mahou shojo anime. This should be fun!

Will Sailor Pluto still retain her Sailor Senshi status? :)

Sailor Moon is "our Moon", but she's not actually a real Sailor Senshi. She was in disguise and never was a real part of it in the Moonlight Kingdom.

I hope Pluto not beeing a planet anymore is just going to be ignored. Or maybe they make a small joke about it or something.

Only the first story arc (Dark Kingdom) has been confirmed for the reboot for now.

I love how the music is much more symphonic now. The "thing" for new shows in Japan seems to be a more epic symphonic soundtrack with some rock/pop mixed in now anyway.

The English dub changed a lot. Most infamously trying to pass Uranus and Neptune off as cousins instead of lovers, and doing it rather poorly. There was a gay couple among the villains in the first season, and the English dub had a woman do the voice for one of them who was androgynous looking. The language in the subs was more salty. The general tone of the dub was dumbed down and sanitized. The original Sailor Moon is good viewing aimed at teens and young adults, like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and can be enjoyed by adults. The cut down English dub was aimed at very young girls.

That was mostly for the first two seasons. The 3 &4th seasons were issued in 2 versions: one for broadcast/VHS release that was more like the DIC version with CGI transitions. The DVD releases contained the original, unedited Japanese versions with English subtitles that literally translated the original Japanese, but then the spoken English dub put it into more conversational English.
