Any ideas on what the running length will be?

This is just speculation at this point, as the actual running time of the movie won't be determined until the prints are ready to be made, but based on what we know about the movie and all the elements that are believed to be in it, how long will it be?

I for one, after being forced to wait an additional four months to see it, will be royally pissed if we get an 88 minute movie or anything less than two full hours. Hell, I'd be happy if J.J. decides to make his final cut two and a half hours or longer. This probably won't happen, but if this movie is going to be as epic and blockbuster material as they're making it out to be, then it needs to have a decent length.

Let the debate begin!

I am hoping for a 150 minute epic, but I expect the film to have a running length of about 120 minutes. My impression at this time is that they seem to go for a big story and they are bringing in all sorts of details, so I doubt it will be under 120 minutes.

113,3 minutes.

That's the average length of a Star Trek movie:

TMP 132 min.
+ TWOK 113 min.
+ TSFS 105 min.
+ TVH 119 min.
+ TFF 107 min.
+ TUC 109 min.
+ GEN 118 min.
+ FC 111 min.
+ INS 103 min.
+ NEM 116 min.
= 1133 min.
/10 movies = 113,3 minutes

That's my best guess.

I'm hoping that it is, at least, 120 minutes long. 135 minutes would be even better. I could certainly sit through a 2 hours and 15 minute Star Trek film without a break.

120 minutes... any longer would lower the number of showings per screen which lowers income... It's all about the money, baby... this ain't no charity case! :rommie:

Around 130 minutes would be nice for me. I expect something in the 2-hour range.

Two hours and twelve minutes, with twenty-five minutes of the Enterprise approachng V'Ger.

Considering the money they're alledgedly spending on this, I'd want much more than two hours. An epic spectacle but without the tedium of TMP's first two reels. From the responses given by writers Orci & Kurtzman, I get the impression it'll be somewhere in the TWOK or FC range.

Well, based on an $8.00 ticket and 135 minute (2 hr 15 min) running time, I would be paying $3.56 per hour or about $0.06 per minute.

I can handle that. I can even go as high as $4.00 per hour (which would be a 2 hour film) ;)

Based on what we "know" about the movie, the general theatrical release will be 127 minutes and 32 seconds long.

The director's cut on Blu-ray will be 134 minutes and 17 seconds.

And that's another good point; I've yet to hear or see an official figure thrown out by Paramount as to the movie's budget. I seem to recall hearing an early figure of $150 mil, but that was never verified.

So, anyone have ideas about the budget?

Couldn't that be extrapolated from budget figures for the previous movies in much the same way as was done for the running time here?:
113,3 minutes.

Adjusting for inflation might make it a little more slippery to calculate, but I don't think anyone expects dollars-and-cents accuracy even from the figure Paramount will eventually release.

Didn't Orci said that the script was 128 paces. So if the rule is one page= one minute. It has to be a least 128 min long.
I am hoping XI will break TMP record as the longest Trek movie ever.

Hopefully it will be the right length.

Hee. The correct answer.

Running time is problematic at best. If it's bad, then let's hope it's mercifully short, too. Then again, it could be such a good 90 minute movie that time just stands still. Just five minutes with the right woman can seem like a lifetime if it's used right.

As I get older, sitting through 2+ hour movies gets harder and harder. Oh, well. If it's longer than 2 hours, I'll choke down my popcorn without a Coke.
