If so, I have a small question for you. For my master thesis, I need to map the distribution of certain types of clay vessels with various different properties. It was recommended I do this with a GIS program. Originally, this was supposed to be Arc GIS but I prefer Open Source software so I wondered whether it could be done with GRASS just as easily. Basically, what I need GRASS to do is to translate the data from an Access database consisting of several tables into an attribute table and then map vessels with certain properties.
The GRASS website wasn't quite clear on this, I'm mainly worried about how well it works together with Access databases and whether it can easily map attributes.
I've attended an Arc GIS introduction class and we also spent one session doing something with GRASS, but I don't remember much. Our department only has a few Arc GIS licenses so it would be less hassle for me to do it with GRASS.
