Any Asymetrical Starship Designs?

Dayton3

Admiral
Virtually all the starships we've seen in Star Trek are symetrical.

That is when viewed from fore, aft , above, or below they can be split down the middle into virtually identical halves.

Are there any ships out there, especially Starfleet which are very clearly asymetrical?

The only Starfleet ship I can think of that's not quite symmetrical is the Constellation class, but that's only because of a few of the details on the bottom of the saucer. But personally, that's not enough for me to call it "asymmetrical".

I believe the breen ships were asymetrical. could be wrong not watched ds9 for a while,
cant think of any starfleet ships that are though.

The Breen ships are the most obvious example.

Starfleet ships do have small asymetries. The VOYAGER has an airlock off-center on the back of the spoon. The ENT-D has different shaped shuttle doors on each side of the neck.

Like a lot of the others the only obvious ones I can think of is the Breen ship

I can think of Valcress's (sp?) cargo ship from ST III, the one that Kruge destroyed. the model was used on TNG and DS9 as well. The engine nacelles were of different sizes I think. Not Starfleet, though.

Ever since Gene Roddenberry insisted (or TRIED to insist) that warp nacelles have to be mounted in pairs to work, ship designs in Star Trek have been overwhelmingly symmetrical. The only real exceptions on the screen so far have been the Breen and an occasional Borg.

Fan-based designs are another matter entirely...
