Any Ace Combat Fans Here?

I'm mostly wondering because I love the series, for starters, but haven't played anything past The Belkan War. Are the others worth getting a PS3 for? I've heard so many mixed reviews, honestly I'm a bit skeptical to even try the others, and with PS3 games being so expensive I don't want to just run out and buy one of them and be disappointed, yknow?

The newer games aren't very good.

Most of the original Project Aces team left after the PSP game. (Which in itself was pretty mediocre.)

The 360 game was okay, the story was kind of bland and it was really short. There weren't a lot of planes to choose from and the missions were too bloated.

The PS3 game is just terrible. They completely changed the game engine--despite being on a more sophisticated machine, the physics are even less realistic, and it's just a bit too much of a "arcade shooter."

Also, it doesn't take place on Strangereal but an alternate Earth. Really, it's just a whole different fighter-plane game that they just borrowed the name.

I bought Ace Combat 4 for the PS2 a year or two ago, but I couldn't get into it. I prefer my games to have an arcade feel to them rather than being realistic. Perhaps I would enjoy the PS3 game.

Oh bummer, I don't like the sounds of that! Alternate Earth? Ace Combat's thing was always they're own worlds and stuff.

What about the planes though? Still the same ones? Any new ones worth mentioning? Tell me my precious Raptor and Eagle are still there! lol.

The only Ace Combat game I've got is Ace Comabt 6 for the 360. It's a reasonable game but I on't think it's the best game that the 3360 has to offer.

Agreed, I found it a reasonable game to play but not compelling enough to keep playing.
