Sad News in the Trek World. Anthony Fredrickson Passed Away. Only a few months after his wife another member of the Trek Family died (Penny Juday). If you enjoy watching the show, both played a part in the wonderful production team who brought Trek to life.

Very sad, but without knowing the particulars, the short duration between their passing isn't at all unusual for couples that were together for a very long time. I think we're hearing more these days about the physiological factors that may cause this phenomenon.

I've noted that if the lady dies first, the man follows her a few weeks to months later. If the man dies first, the lady lives for years.

Sometimes the man can live for years afterward, but it's often after a life-altering medical emergency that causes him to be placed in some kind of managed care, either in a facility or with family. I had this happen with my grandparents. One pair, my grandfather died relatively young, and my grandmother lived for almost forty years after his death. The other pair, my grandmother died, and my grandfather had a catastrophic episode causing him to get a pacemaker, and come live with us for the rest of his life. He lived with us for over a year and a half before he died.

That said, my condolences to the Frederickson/Juday families.

After half a century, STAR TREK's lost its fair share of people to the ravages of old age ... and other causes, as well. Whenever I see a thread with just the name of somebody, like "William Shatner" anymore, I'm like ... "Oh, no. Did he die? I don't even want to know!" I'm a dyed-in-the-wool TNG fan, but whenever somebody from STAR TREK dies, whether they were in the show, or behind the scenes, it's like the franchise loses something with it. I mean ... I'll put on TOS and it's like ... "he's dead. She's dead. That one's dead, too ... dead ..." a little too much reality imposing itself on our fun and games, here. Put's things in perspective ...

A husband and wife team behind the scenes helping to create the future. They deserve ongoing recognition and credit for their efforts.

2takesfrakes, no doubt many can share in the sentiment of your post.

I hope so ... thanks. I love this franchise as much as the next fan. It's funny, how some personalities get all the press, it seems like, but we know there are so many more unsung heroes who work hard and care ... you know? They really care about what they're doing and they're fans of the show. And then, we find out, "oh! There was a lady who archived all of these amazing props used in the show? Wow ... I wish I'd heard of her before, I'm sure she had some interesting stories." And those connections are lost forever, that we didn't even know were there.

Well said.

To be able to enjoy episodes that have people starring in them that are longer with us, you just have to distance yourself from reality... Star Trek is a good way to do that.
