Ant-Man and the Wasp and other MCU Schedule Changes

I imagine that Guardians Volume 3, Spider-Man 2, and possibly another Black Panther or Doctor Strange movies are among those if their characters are successes (they're going to be).

The Spider-Man films are still being produced and distributed by Sony, despite being part of the MCU now. So I don't think they'd be counted as part of Marvel Studios' release slate.

Spider-Man already caused them to rearrange the schedule once. They've just done it again to accommodate Ant-Mand and the Wasp.

I'm more concerned with the movie being good, not being first.

Oh, Captain Marvel is still going to be the first. Unlike Wasp (Who's role could wind up amounting to just beating people up with no further character insight or development), Captain Marvel gets top billing. Like a lot of other solo outings in the MCU, this is going to be about her. When it comes to how they're going to describe her character, you might actually get a response that sounds more like a story that's about something instead of simply labeling her as a "Strong Female Character who plays a big role".

And I get what you're saying when you want this film to be good. You have no idea how much I'm hoping for that as well. But the thing is, I worry that Captain Marvel simply being good won't cut it. In order to show that a story about a female character is worth doing, her film has to exceed expectations. A feat that's going to be very difficult with the rampant super hero movies that will be pouring from here till her release. Three and a half years is a really, really long time.

If you look at the new dates, it appears that Capt. Marvel has been pushed back to just 2 months before Infinity War part 2, so I'm assuming that this was something they decided to do deliberately because the Capt. Marvel movie will tie into IW strongly. Until proven otherwise, I'd take it as a good sign - that Marvel intends for their first big female solo character to make a huge entrance.

They probably chose the date because it's International Women's Day and they didn't want to do four movies the previous year. I hope it ties in. I think the fact that it's always been set in between the two movies is no coincidence, but the exact date seems to do with other factors.

I'm really excited to hear about Ant-Man and The Wasp. I'm really happy to see them giving Hope and/or Janet equal billing with Scott and/or Hank. Hopefully this means she'll get to be just as much of a superhero as her partner.
