Anson Mount for Captain Christopher Pike

I don't see any resemblance between Quinto and Nimoy, but that's before they start makeup tests. So I doubt I'll notice any from whoever they get to play Pike, Kirk or any of the others.

You don't see the resemblance? Well it's there, trust me. YEARS ago when I was watching S3 of 24, Zachary Quinto appeared in CTU, I had no idea who he was but my first thought, literally, was "well if they ever want to recast Spock, there's our guy..."

So unless JJ Abrams exerts time-travelling mind control over poor unsuspecting Vortas, yeah, he looks amazingly like Nimoy.

Not being familiar with Quinto's work (and that includes Heroes which is only just getting underway here), I actually take that back. The various photos from Comic-Con helped a lot. So I'm cautiously optimistic about the way the casting is going is so far.

I don't think Shatner necessarily needs to return for this film, if they've already chosen to focus on telling it from Spock's point-of-view. I wonder if the older Spock will still be on Romulus at the start of this film? Or perhaps this is a future where they've become a part of the Federation, thanks to the Vulcan's peace efforts?

I hope he's just sitting around a camp fire, or in the pub, or in front of the TV. These "knowing nods" to previous material, such as Spock being on Romulus, will just bog it down.

It's about Kirk and Spock, who cares if he left Romulus or not?
