Clearly see the communicator??? I don't think they had combadges prior to TOS. This fool needs to go to starfleet school!

Why are they blurring her face?
So she won't get fired? Haven't we seen other faces already???

Man, if that hat is for real, then all those "Why does Kirk look like he should be working in a hotel?" jokes just aren't going to stop.

doubtful that this and the pine pics are fakes. very alike. hopefully it is one of the time period sets and we will see a more traditional WNMHGB unis for most of the film. these are just beat...

this is star trek not starship troopers.

Hmmm...

I don't recall that.

Could you post a screen cap showing someone from The Cage in a hat?

I'll be the first to say it: I like'm, cause you know real navies wear hats with their formal wear.

And how the hell could anyone tell if that's a "Comm badge" - looks like a normal delta shape pin sorta of thing but no way to say its a communicator.

We didn't see them being worn, but you could see Pike's resting on top of the TV in his quarters.

A hat was not actually shone sitting upon anyone's scalp, but we do see a hat (similar to a ballcap) resting upon a table-like surface in Pike's quarters right when he "buzzes" Boyce to see him.

Sincerely,

Bill

Edit: Mysterion beat me too it.

I'm beginning to think that the Orange Pylons might be the villains in this movie...

THE PYLONS WERE CREATED BY MAN.

THEY REBELLED.

THEY EVOLVED.

THEY LOOK

AND FEEL

HUMAN.

SOME ARE PROGRAMMED TO THINK THEY ARE HUMAN.

THERE ARE MANY COPIES.

AND THEY HAVE A PLAN.

That doesn't look much different from a fatigue cap that they used to wear in the U.S. Army - don't know if they still do.

It seems as if there are probably a greater variety of "Starfleet" uniforms in the film than in previous versions of Trek. Considering the many different uniforms worn in the U.S. Armed Forces and given Abrams' asserted intention to make this film seem more "real" that makes some sense.

As for the actor getting fired - it may be that there's more to the context of how this particular picture got taken than we know (maybe she's wandering around outside an area designated for the extras to wait in). Who knows? I don't think the pixelation is probably very effective, though.

For those interested, here is a pic of Pike's hat in "The Cage." It certainly looks as though it could have been intended to be part of the regular uniform.

Actually, this and some of the other recent coverage are good examples of how generic the average non-trekkie's knowledge about "Star Trek" is. Most of the folks who the studio hopes to collect eight bucks from next December probably wouldn't know the difference between the 23rd or 24th century "Star Trek" settings - even if the differences were actually interesting, which for the most part they aren't.
