Announcement for Johnny Depp fans

Rear Admiral
Johnny Depp has agreed to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a fourth "Pirates of the Caribbean" pic, according to Variety.
And, on top of that, he will play Tonto (Depp is half Cherokee) in a bigscreen adaptation of "The Lone Ranger," both produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. He will also star as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s version of "Alice in Wonderland."
The roles come after Depp helped Disney earn a combined $2.6 billion at the box office with the three pics in the "Pirates" franchise, also produced by Bruckheimer.
"Alice in Wonderland," skedded for 2010, will be shot using 3-D and performance capture technology similar to that used for "Beowulf."
This and more was announced at the Walt Disney Studios Showcase which has essentially turned into a splashy, ShoWest-like event in Hollywood for the company to parade out stars and screen extended clips for a couple thousand attendees in various sectors of the biz to promote its future projects. Last time it held the showcase was in 2005, also at the Kodak.
Depp himself took the stage dressed as Jack Sparrow while wearing the Lone Ranger mask.

Pirates of the Caribbean 4 can do well if we get a single story like the 1st one though I hope Geoffrey Rush returns too. Can someone though Give Depp a role which he will win the Oscar for, the man deserves one.

Does this mean the movie franchises for Space Mountain, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes and Autopia are on hold?

I got really excited when I read this:

He will also star as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s version of "Alice in Wonderland."

then I read this:

"Alice in Wonderland," skedded for 2010, will be shot using 3-D and performance capture technology similar to that used for "Beowulf."

Now I am sad.

:klingon:

Augh! Wasn't three of the damn things enough?

No, you can never get enough PotC!

Seriously, I hope they can do a good stand-alone story like CotBP. It remains one of my favorite films and certainly the best of the series. I look forward to seeing Captain Jack Sparrow once again.

Does anyone know if his Dark Shadows project is still in the works? I was looking forward to that one as well.
