anlysis of "predators" trailer

I can't say I'm impressed by the trailer but this is one movie I will wait to see before judging.
I still remember the trailers for AvP 2 indicating it would be a good movie, only to be complete crap.
Anyway, my expectations are very low so I might yet be pleasantly surprised.

Expectations are VERY low.. knowing Rodriguez it will be very stylish but i fear it will be another "who dies next" type movie where the group will be whittled down one by one.
We had that with the first AvP and the first Predator (though then you had Arnold and his gang who are Legends now).

Of course it's going to be a "who dies next/last person standing" film, that's what the first movie was about (as you said) so was Alien & Aliens for that matter. The difference between those film and the likes of AVP was that AVP was rubbish. Alien, Aliens, Predator and the like all let you get to know the characters made you care about what happens to them. Lance Hendrickson's part aside, I can't even name a single character from either AVPs, not even the one that survived.
So long as it's a well characterised, well executed film there's no reason the formula can't work again. Plus I dare say Rodriguezhas a much better track record than Paul Anderson and whoever did the second one.

I remember that one in AVP-R was named Dallas (after the character from Alien) and that there was another named Molly O'Brien, but that's it.
Really? Which trailers did you see?
All I remember was a town population clock and it suddenly dropping with each trailer 'splosion. Didn't think it was gonna be very good and hey, I was right!
There were 2-3 different ones, I don't even remember them anymore, just the general feeling.
I suppose youtube is your friend... if you're interested enough.
