Animal Crossing Wii

Animal Crossing Wii is all but confirmed to be unveiled at E3 next week along with, apparently, a 2008 release date. That's good news...I revisited my Animal Crossing DS town the other night for the first time since 2006 and it was overgrown with weeds, and my favourite resident Rosie (a cat...or possibly a mouse. Cute, anyway) had moved out :(

Anyhow, I had a lot of fun with the limited online functionality in the DS game and I hope that Nintendo will expand upon that dramatically in the Wii iteration - which they should, since Iwata used Animal Crossing as a kind of poster child for WiiConnect 24 functionality back at E3 06 (remember that one? ;) )

So what stuff do you wanna see? A less stupid implementation of the rules for visiting other peoples' towns? Mii integration? A gun with which to kill Resetti everytime he appears to lecture you? KK Slider playing more than once every Saturday night?

Personally, I'd like to see a continuous stream of new content issued through WFC. That viral character with the paintable face in the DS version was cute, and the message in a bottle thing was kind of a nice idea too, but Animal Crossing has always brought out my inner hoarder. My character's Mario cap was the envy of many guests to my humble village.

It'd also be cool if you were able to visit your friends' towns while they weren't online, and leave them presents (and/or steal their fruit and step on their flowers).

What say you?

I never got a chance to play Animal Crossing but I did like MySims for a bit then it got a bit boring. So, I definitely would look forward to a chance to get to play a newer version if it is as good as what others have said about the original.
