Angels was a cluttered, jumbled mess.
And that's why I love it so. The mess was intentional, since the Dominion were jamming communications. Starfleet tried to maintain battle tactics as much as possible (ie, the two Mirandas flanking the Defiant), but it soon degraded to a free-for-all. If that's not desperation, I dunno what is.
What really clinches it for me is the end. Not that the Klingons saved the day (though that's truly a great moment), but also that soon after, we find out that 200 Allied ships were heading to DS9. The free-for-all was indeed a success for Starfleet.
Way of the Warrior, though, I can see why some would prefer that battle. It was, really, the first time we saw Federation weapon systems act and go all out in a way long-time Trekkies had waited for since the E-D fired its first torpedo spread.
