Angel tv series question...

^ Come on now, save the women fights for the Picture Thread. :p

On Topic: I'd personally try out Buffy first, but then I'm watching Frasier without ever having seen Cheers and I'm enjoying it a lot, even if I do have a little catching up to do on back story.

I've been watching both series in airing order, so I think I'm really getting an awesome experience. Nobody spoil the ending!

Do they ever reveal how Angel manages to style his hair without being able to look in a mirror?

Spoiler code it if you have to!

He and Spike have the same hairdresser. In one episode they're chatting away at the salon when they're suddenly attacked by a horde of giant mutated lice.

Angel saves the day. And his hair remains absolutely perfect the whole time. The end.
Except the dodgy new hairstyle they gave him for the first few eps of Season 5. Then they quickly went back to the classic look.

I have seen maybe 4 episodes of Buffy. I hated that show
So you've seen little over 5% of the show. You can say you dislike what you saw, but to say you hate the whole show is illogical

Hey RoJoHen, how far are you up to now?

I would agree with most of the posters here that you don't NEED to have watched BTVS to watch Angel but at least the first three seasons of BTVS give some background on Angel and some of the characters who join him in LA (i.e. Cordelia, Wesley).

I enjoyed both shows immensely despite being initially unsure about BTVS (I thought it would be modeled more after the corny movie with Kristy Swanson). After watching the first 4 seasons of BTVS, my wife bought S1 of Angel and we continued collecting the seasons on DVD as they were released. In conclusion, I felt that Angel was, in general, much more solid show in terms of writing and quality of episodes (I particularly enjoyed most of the the non-stop S4 arcs) than post-Season 3 BTVS ended up being (although S5 was rather good). It's too bad that there only ended up being 5 seasons of Angel as opposed to the 7 seasons that BTVS got. OTOH I'm not sure where else they really could've gone with Angel after Season 5 given the conclusion that the writers came up with not to mention the fact that Angel is immortal and that there wouldn't really be a good way to end the show absent his death.

Haven't watched any in a couple weeks, but where I last left off, Buffy was training her little Slayer Wannabes to fight The First, and Angel's soul had been put in a jar by a crazy monk, so Angelus is back!

My friend is coming over tonight, and we're going to finally continue watching.
