Who else here loves American Ninja Warrior? I run a lot of Spartan Races so I'm already into obstacle racing. I know some people who spent a week in line trying to get on as a walk on and didn't make it. It'd be nice if they had a show like this that was broadcast more like an Olympic competition than something about entertainment, so qualifying could be strictly about merit. But every time I watch this show it pumps me up to train harder.
Though, why is it every time a woman does well the camera focuses on the man in her life? Last year when Kacy Catanzaro made that run, they focused on her boyfriend Brent Stephensen, and today when that veteran's sister was running they focused on the advice he was giving her.
This Hourglass obstacle is brutal. Possibly the hardest obstacle I've seen in qualifying, requiring both upper body strength and a perfect trampoline jump.
I found some gyms near me that have ANW styled obstacles. I can do the devil steps but can't do the salmon ladder yet. They have a warped wall but it's shorter than the one on the show. I can do the shorter version but don't know if I could do the full size version.
