American Idol Ending After Season 15 on Fox

Apologies if this has already been posted, but this sounds like (for me at least) great news:

“American Idol” is finally coming to a close. The 15th and final season will premiere January 2016.

Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban will return as season 15 judges, along with host Ryan Seacrest.

Fox TV Group chairman-CEO Gary Newman said it was “not an easy decision” to call it a wrap for “Idol” after much discussion with producers.

“It’s the right time to bring this run to a close,” Newman said in a conference call Tuesday. “We really wanted to do it in a way that felt special and celebratory … and send it off in a way that is as significant as the run it’s had on our network.”

Well, hopefully, we can get back to having variety TV shows like this or this.

What I'm hoping is that executives at Fox recognize their better angels and put on shows that have actual singers on them performing, even if said shows have singers that say things at odds with the prevailing view of the United States.

I'd be less concerned about the American Idol revival and more concerned about the identical show with a new gimmick.

In two years, I see Fox coming up with a karaoke show idea involving coaches only slightly different from The Voice.

Me too. In fact, I'd love to see the other shows just like it have the same thing happen to them.
