AMC's 'The Walking Dead' Trailer (Frank Darabont, Gale Anne Hurd)

"The Walking Dead" revolves around an epidemic of apocalyptic proportions that has swept the globe, causing the dead to rise and feed on the living. In a matter of months, society has crumbled: There is no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable TV. Rick Grimes finds himself one of the few survivors in this terrifying future. A couple months ago he was a small town cop who had never fired a shot and only ever saw one dead body. Separated from his family, he must now sort through all the death and confusion to try and find his wife and son. In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally begin living.
This looks fantastic. It's hard to go wrong with Frank Darabont and Gale Anne Hurd behind this, and it's great to see Sarah Wayne Callies ('Prison Break') and Lennie James ('Jericho') again.

IMDB listing

The 90-minute premiere will air this Halloween, which is appropriate. I can't wait.

Been wanting to check out Kirkman's "The Walking Dead" for some time now but the library has never had all the volumes of the trades in. This looks really cool and one of the few new fall shows I'll actually be checking out.

I can't WAIT for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looks like the first REALLY good zombie film in years and years and years!

Maybe they'll do a cameo by Will Smith during sweeps!

Seriously, I wonder how long they can sustain this concept.... but then, Dexter's going into its 5th year.

As long as Kirkman can sustain the comic (which has been running since 2003 and doesn't seem to be ending any time soon), I would imagine.

Comics are a bit less expensive to bankroll than a t.v. series.

That said, I wish it lots of success!

Sorry, the way you worded it made me think you meant the premise was limited. I agree with you, hopefully the ratings hold up and we get a few seasons out of this.

Saw the trailer, and liked it. It's been awhile since I had a series to follow, so I'll be giving this one a go.

What's with the music at the end?

Brilliant choice of music there. I might have also thought about Skeeter Davis 'The End Of The World', but that's actually a hopeful song if you really listen to it.

I agree-the music makes the trailer two or three times as poignant. This looks like the break-out hit of the new season if the episodes have the quality expressed in the trailer. I can't wait! :techman:

Looks pretty good. I'm excited to see Darabont attached to it. The source material (Kirkman's comic series) is rock-solid, so if they just stick to that, the quality is pretty much guaranteed.

The only thing I don't like is the main actor. He looks kind of dopey.

I dunno, Im not a big fan of zombies, I think theyre kinda boring as antagonists. Theyre just things to shoot at.
In the comic do any of the zombies show personality? Id like to see a zombie story were the virus causes the decay/body horror but the infected arent turned into mindless monsters. It would still be pretty horrifiying but also alot more poignant I think.

No, but the zombies aren't the antagonists in the comic. The story is much more focused on exploring how humans cope in that situation rather than shoving in as many 'cool' zombie deaths as they can.

I've never read this Comic, but I always wanted to see a Dawn Of The Dead series. I would have preferred to see an anthology, but the preview looks pretty good.

I wonder if we'll ever see good old Voodoo Zombies again. Or if anybody even remembers what Zombies were like for centuries before Romero. :rommie:
