AMC's Halt and Catch Fire

I like the name of the upcoming AMC show Halt and Catch Fire, but despite seeing promo commercials many times I still don't know what this show is about. All I know is that it is set in the 80's. Anyone care to enlighten me?

Seems interesting enough. The ending reminded me a little of the erin brockovich movie - endless line of lawyers some of which are probably fake for show.

Been looking forward to this ever since I first heard about it. It's what I wish Silicon Valley would have been, a historical take on new emerging markets, which I feel would have been far more interesting. So, I look forward to seeing what they do with this.

Not bad. It's got me mostly for the nostalgia factor so far.

One quibble, when they come out of the theatre, beard guy (whatever his name is) asked his kids "You want to go home and watch the other two Star Wars films?". Pretty positive that would have been hard to do in 1981 without resorting to some pretty shady pirate copies.

I'm watching the first episode right now. Half-way through. I had to pause to recommend it to people I know and also chime in here to say I think it's going to be the perfect replacement series for Mad Men.

Even though it wouldn't have been practical, I'd always wished Mad Men would somehow have been able to continue by skipping the '70s along with its aesthetics (because they don't fit the show) and go straight into the '80s.

Halt and Catch Fire is good enough to get the job done and looks like it's going to be a great series on its own.

He could have a copy of the first movie and the Holiday Special. He may be the guy who recorded one of those two copies that are still floating around. The twist comes when we learn that George Lucas is hunting him down for spreading his dark secret.
