Four days after Amber Heard filed for divorce from Johnny Depp, a judge has ordered Depp to stay away from his wife of 15 months. The Associated Press reports that the restraining order was granted after Heard appeared in court on Friday to accuse her husband of “repeatedly hitting her during a recent fight and leaving her face bruised.”

Depp was ordered to stay more than 100 yards away from his wife and not contact her before a June 17 hearing.

Heard and her lawyer, Samantha Spector, arrived in Los Angeles court Friday morning with a photo of bruises on the actress’s face—injuries Heard claims were sustained Saturday evening when Depp threw a cell phone at her. Heard alleges that Depp was drunk and high at the time of the altercation. Per the AP, “she also wrote that the actor pulled her hair, screamed at her and repeatedly hit her and violently grabbed her face.”

“During the entirety of our relationship, Johnny has been verbally and physically abusive to me,” Heard said in her sworn declaration, as reported by the AP. “I endured excessive emotional, verbal and physical abuse from Johnny, which has included angry, hostile, humiliating and threatening assaults to me whenever I questioned his authority or disagreed with him.”

“I live in fear that Johnny will return to (our house) unannounced to terrorize me, physically and emotionally,” Heard continued.

Depp has not publicly commented on the latest development in the couple’s divorce case. But on Friday, his lawyer, Laura Wasser, contended, per the AP, that “Heard’s filing, along with requests for financial assistance from the actor ‘appears to be in response to the negative media attention she received earlier this week after filing for divorce.’”

On Thursday, Depp issued the following statement, and thus far his only comment on the situation, via his representative:

“Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life. Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.”

According to TMZ, the couple did not have a pre-nuptial agreement and Heard requested spousal support.

Depp is entitled to the presumption of innocence and Heard is entitled to a fair hearing and not to be dismissed as a gold-digger (I've seen all sorts of depressing comments on social media about her, mainly from women, sad to say). Bottom line is none of us were there and we don't know what happened.

That goes beyond anger, it's downright mean on the way to attempted murder.

Although, at this point, she can get the dream divorce swiftly where she gets every thing she wants, plus %20, OR Johnny Depp goes to prison for battery, and his lawyers make this divorce last for thirty years, whereafter she still gets nothing.

She's not unfamous, but Amber is almost just barely famous enough to get work without auditioning. That is to say that I have liked her in what I've seen, but I haven't seen her in much, or identified her as present when she's been a small part in a larger movie.

Very true. The trouble is I suppose that we all leap to conclusions which work both sides of the fence; so younger woman, more famous/wealthy husband, no prenup on one side, and unhinged bloke who often seems like he's on something on the other. Neither, either or both may be true.

What is apparent is that the timing is pretty shitty given his mum died just a few days before Amber filed for divorce. I believe she'd been ill for a while which may have impacted on his mental state and him going off the rails. Obviously that is no excuse if he has hit her, but I'd have thought whichever publicist was advising Amber would have cautioned against filing for divorce now given it provides those inclined to see her as a gold digger with a little more ammunition.

Then again given the bruises might it was just the best time to do this, especially given she's getting a restraining order against him.

He's reportedly worth around $400 million. So if she wants half, big deal, he ain't starving.

That said, something's off about this. If Depp really did attack her, she could (and should) have had him arrested on the spot. She didn't. Raquel Pennington, the neighbor/friend who called the cops, could have pressed charges against Depp if Amber wouldn't. She didn't. Police found 'no evidence' of a struggle/injury that night and didn't file a report, directly contradicting the photos of the bruise and a smashed-up house Amber showed the judge Friday. The photos of the bruise are filtered, show no swelling and don't quite seem to match what she was sporting in court.

With all the women Depp's been with, you'd think that some hint of past abuse would have come to light long before now; 52's a little late in life to start beating women. His ex Vanessa's come out saying he never abused her, and his children are supporting him as well.

He may be guilty, he may not. The picture that was apparently her smiling and happy shortly after the incident casts doubt, but is there proof that was when it was taken ?

We just don't know what happened, but this one incident won't change my opinion of him anyway.

He's not being charged with assault.

Amber has to be smart enough to know that she doesn't want her spousal support calculated, while Johnny is an inmate in prison.

Decent actor, does a few things I like and more that I don't. Presumably an O.K. human being (unless evidence comes out to the contrary).

I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and wouldn't be put off going to see a film I fancied because he is in it.

Fair enough, I'd probably say that's about my view of him. Like so many big stars I find he too often just plays himself these days (though in fairness he was clearly trying in Black Mass but the makeup was too distracting, shame as I think it was a good performance.)

This. It's way too early to start making judgments. All we do know is that something has gone wrong in their marriage, and now it's out on display to the public. I'm hoping whatever happened is resolved. If Johnny Depp did hit her, then absolutely he needs to pay for that. If she made it up, then she needs to pay for the false allegations, allegations that put that much more of a bias against actual spousal abuse cases. So I hope they get to the bottom of it and fast, for everyone's sake.
