Amazon.com West Wing Complete Collection $75

And I'm assuming it has free shipping.

That's a little more than $10 a season, one sided discs. I bought the whole set for $105 last year and half the discs are evil double sided. Seasons 2-7 are in wide screen, season 1 was not filmed in wide screen.

Sure seasons 1-3 are the best, four is fine, five is all over, and 6-7 were only good outside The West Wing, but still a series to watch.

I picked this up about a month ago from amazon.co.uk for a very nice price. ;) I'm now about halfway through season 4.

I used to love that show - especially the first four seasons, when Aaron Sorkin was producing/wriiting, and Rob Lowe was there. Sorkin is one of those people that keeps complete creative control. When he left, the series stayed within the same formula, but it just wasn't as good anymore. The other problem was that it was a little more difficult to watch the show in the aftermath of 911 - the events of the real world were taking precedence over the fantasy world. I think the show would play even better now than it did when it came out.

It's dead, didn't lvie long.

One of the reasons Sorkin left, there were many, was because NBC was pressuring him to have more terror attacks and more "BOOM" drama, he didn't want that. he was also stoned, always late, and over budget. Shame he left, the characters go downhill after season 5, what happens to a few of them are "WTF?!?" and just really poorly planned.

Damn, I would have gotten this for my sister! I should have paid more attention to Amazon on Friday. :o

I don't see this as a series with much rewatchability.
Sets I buy need to have this rewatchability factor.

As much as I like Boston Legal, even at the great price I got S1&2, its not a show I like to pop in and rewatch. I may sell them soon. West Wing is this way as are other shows like CSI imo.

^ You wouldn't believe how much my family and friends have re-watched this series since its release, then. It's exceptionally re-watchable. In many ways, its better on DVD than it was in its original run (though the seventh season still drags in its last half).

And what sets have a rewachablity to them?

I have watched West Wing through completely 1.5 times in the last year, and several episodes several times. It's one of the best shows to watch on DVD with all the episodes connecting nicely in DVD form.

West Wing is probably the one series set that I have with the most rewatchability. I love it!

This is a damn form, everything anyone says is their opinion!

In our opinion what type of shows are rewatchable?

House MD? ;)

It probably goes without saying but Star Trek, especially DS9, Buffy, Angel, X-Files, Firefly, oh and McGuyver.

OK cool, that sounds smart enough. McGuyver sticks out there.

I still don't understand people buying Law and Order, and House, and CSI. I was afraid you would say that. :) You can watch them 400 hours a day on 10 different networks and once you see the show once it really has no repeat value, to me.

:bolian:

Firefly, Sports Night (the previous Aaron Sorkin series), As Time Goes By (Britcom with Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer) - I watch all of these series completely about every 3-4 months.

I'm a big fan of CSI LV and House, but I get what you mean here. I will occasionally watch repeats of them, but they're not ones I'd buy on dvd.

The West Wing I have done (and just finished re-watching)
