Amazing - photosynth demo video

I'm not in a position where I can watch it with sound right now, but from what I can see, it strikes me as a souped-up version of the zoom-and-navigate feature on the iPhone version of Safari.

This is actually a bit old, but it's still pretty neat.

TerriO, maybe you're missing it with the sound off, but what Photosynth does is it's able to take a wide number of photos taken around a certain area and actually build a 3d model of the area with the photos embedded into the correct spots, including embedding photos into other photos allowing you to "zoom in" through various levels of detail. It's much much more then simply zoom-and-navigate.

In fact, you can try it out here!

Edited to add: check out this one of the shuttle Endeavor on the launch pad!

Yeah, I saw this awhile ago and it's pretty damn impressive. Imagine combining that with something like google earth. One of the coolest things I've seen in a long time, and the demo runs smooth, even on my relatively slow computer. (I was surprised to see that it wasn't IE exclusive considering it's a microsoft project.) This is they type of thing you'd see in an action movie and roll your eyes at, yet it's a reality. Can't wait to see where they take this.
