Amazing 60th Anniversary 'what if' by JTVFX *I did not make this*

How can the TOS version of the Enterprise not be on the cover photo?

I mean, golly, that's a lot of work, incredibly impressive, and tremendously well-executed.

So I don't want to be a naysayer when it's obviously such a passion project, or rather a ton of passion projects, but... while I appreciate a bunch of the notions of how to flesh out some of the more limited realizations from TV time/budgets (and I hella love seeing the D in FC), mostly these kind of miss what made the originals special.

These are fun. I would like to see him keep closer to the original unmade concepts though such as the Bird of Prey vs Enterpise D fight in which the bird of prey crashes into the back of the ship. You know, something that could be edited into the movie to replace that awful resuse of TUC shot.

I certainly appreciate JTVFX's stuff from a visual aspect; he gets super close to nailing the look of physical models. But I find the concepts kinda shallow.

Yeah, I feel the same way. Nice looking stuff, but some odd choices. I think I liked the Mars Defense Perimeter shot the best, since that was what I would have envisioned had there been time and budget to create an actual defense fleet rather than just three unmanned drones. I also wouldn't have minded seeing an alternate take of the Klingon ships from 'The Defector' and 'Yesterday's Enterprise' rather than just the stupidly scaled-up BoPs. Or maybe some ships inside or in orbit of starbases in the first few seasons of TNG instead of just stock footage from the TOS films.
