Managed to download a copy of Windows Longhorn (Build 4074) and it's working extremely well. I took an interest in Beta OS's a while back and finally managed to get this one going (had to mod the BIOS a little).

Anyone else here got some old operating systems? I have a copy of Whistler and the first version of Windows 95 to feature the Start menu button (although it was in three seperate buttons back then) but they haven't been installed it.

I used Chicago for a breif amount of time. I recall all the uproar when the workbench was going to be replaced and how the system was so different. In the end Windows is pretty much always been windows.

Btw was wondering if when you first tried to download it you accidently downloaded the Server 2008 RC? I installed it the the other day and the start up was similar to the way you described in with the initial download problem.

No I downloaded the correct version right off the bat (the FTP site was very well labeled :)).

Longhorn 4074 has to have the BIOS set to 04/25/04 otherwise it won't install.

My 26th birthday, ironically.
