Alternative Janeways...

Rear Admiral
(Hope might be fun or die a quick painless death :))

In honour of Nicole Janeway/Bujold, suggestions for alternative Capt Janeways and what they might have done differently...

Capt Q (Suzie Plakson) - snapped her fingers and obliterated any threat, thereby making crew (and show) redundant; promoted Torres ("I've always liked Klingon females. You've got such... spunk."); demoted Tuvok ("The Vulcan talent for stating the obvious never ceases to amaze me.")

Capt Roslin (Mary McDonnell) - airlocks captured aliens; likes chamalla-flavored coffee; hydroponics converted to ganja garden (nuBSG joke).

Capt Vala (Claudia Black) - Risa holodeck attendance made compulsory; flirts outrageously with Chakotay and Paris.

Captain River Song - knew enough to take the brakes off but spent a lot of time in prison. Tendency to call male colleagues "sweetie."

Captain Katherine Janeway: short, spiked hair. Evil gleam in her eye, black undershirt instead of the usual purple/gray, black gloves. Commands a scarred crew and evil, yellow-eyed android doctor.

Besides the comedic possibilities, the more I think about it the more I'm convinced this would make an interesting collection of short stories. We could see how different Janeways handled situations...differently from "our" Janeway.

I just thought of an interesting possibility. Let's say Janeway got killedat some point, and someone got the idea of activating the Emergency Command Hologram and giving it Janeway's physical parameters so the crew didn't lose hope. She would look exactly like Janeway, but would be very different. It'd be interesting to see how she'd lead them through the Delta Quadrant.

Captain Jack Janeway: Shaven-headed, heavily inked biotic with no taste for weak underlings and a strong need to rip apart the opposition. Would make short-work of Kazon, Borg and Chakotay. (Mass Effect ref.)

Cap'n Motoko Kusanagi Janeway: Advanced Cyborg with penchant for quoting Voltaire, dream-like investigations and dropping minus-harness from helicopters, stripping- for technical reasons- and wrestling tanks. Again, gives the Borg a run for their money and intensifies tech-gender-warping slash-fic possibilities with Seven of Nine. (Ghost in the Shell ref.)

Captain Jaheira Janeway: Druid in Space. Chakotay smitten, gets smited with inexplicably sourced lightening strike, Harry polymorphed into a rabbit (immediately promoted to Lt,) battles Borg-Queen for balance of Galactic Forest. Kick-arse with a Spear or Mace (Baldurs Gate Ref.)

/Geeked out. :)

LOLs for examples so far and thanks for entering into spirit :) Loved calling male colleagues "sweetie" and gives the Borg a run for their money and intensifies tech-gender-warping slash-fic possibilities with Seven of Nine. OSN, think Kingston/Song would have made a great SF captain, though her hair would given TPTB even worse nightmares than Janeway's!

Captain Jessica Fletcher, solving the murder of the week as Voyager travels through the Delta Quadrant, with Cabot Cove episodes on the holodeck. :D

150 episodes later, nobody's left! That premise sounds cool, but less feasible than the already wacky Voyager premise.

Captain Jessica Fletcher, solving the murder of the week as Voyager travels through the Delta Quadrant, with Cabot Cove episodes on the holodeck. :D

But, does she solve the murders or simply frame the alien of the week?

Captain Olivia Dunham Janeway. Scary intense and unbreakable for ages then gets hung up coz Chakotay banged an alternate universe version of her.

Captain Jack Janeway: Shaven-headed, heavily inked biotic with no taste for weak underlings and a strong need to rip apart the opposition. Would make short-work of Kazon, Borg and Chakotay. (Mass Effect ref.)

When I read "Captain Jack Janeway," my first thought was a Dr. Who/Torchwood reference, along these lines:

Captain Jack Janeway: Rugged-jawed, handsome bisexual with a taste for anything that moves and a strong need to seduce the opposition. Would make short work of Kazon, Borg and Chakotay.

^ Yup. Easy to see Jack at any age fitting right into Trek...

That would be pretty awesome, actually.

It would be even funnier if he was the captain of the USS Voyeur--his Torchwood persona, at least, would fit right in there.

*Sigh* I'll get the Facebook page set-up, to lobby for his taking the role when they get round to re-making Voyager.

You do know that he likes being nude, right?

And showing off his... "nacelle"?

Would the Ol' Cap'n approve?
