Alternate Bridge

JJverse ENT bridge design

Agreed about the bridge. In a way, it's the least Trek-like feeling thing in the movie.
The way I rationalize its look is

I rationalize it as J.J. Abrams must have told Production Designer Scott Chambliss that the Enterprise must look like the Apple store and/or the Genius Bar within.

The New Bridge Looks Like an Apple Store
Made of frosted plastic shades and lawn furniture borrowed from the local Pinkberry, the bridge looks built to handle scenes of Kirk negotiating a kegger with the Vulcans

He's right about the furniture...

well some of the “joysticks” on the desk at the front of the bridge are bar-code scanners.

Anyone seen the funny Mac thread started in TNZ? If only someone over there would mention the new TREK ships over there to make it a little more entertaining.

Am I new enough to be excused the bitching??? :wtf:

The way I rationalize its look is that the engineering and design firm that did the TOS bridge was never formed in this universe because its founder was killed on the Kelvin.
So, the design team that lost out to that one in TOS time won the contract in this new universe, and made the bridge we see in the movie.
Works for me. :techman:

That's a nifty explanation. :)

It just looks FAR too advanced for the mid 23rd century.

Starting from where? TOS bridges look very 1960s to me; IMO they had to change the look to get a new audience in, Franklin's explanation is the most elegant in-universe one I've encountered.

My explanation for all the differences and inconsistencies seen in the movie is that the person responsible for how things were in the TOS universe either died on the Kelvin or wasn't born because an ancestor died on the Kelvin. It's a simple and convenient "go to" explanation. ;)
