Vaguely inspired by the Klingon subjugating Earth thread, that I cannot fathom how to link, was pondering. Of all the Trek aliens and threats, which ones would pose a plausible, or better still, entertaining alt history present day big budget invasion/contact movie? And how could the threat be resolved?
Borg maybe, ID4 style opening, Cubes towering over New York perhaps. A brainy TV repair guy outfoxes them with a windows phone.
Romulans I think would be a bit V-esque I think. Manipulating the situation.
Klingons on Earth. A Klingon invasion makes me thinnk blitzkrieg, but a few good men in hand to hand combat would send them running DS9 style.
The Ferengi could turn up and either sell us all their interstellar tat, or set us up as a galactic sweatshop.
The possibilities are endless, but what would work on screen?
