ALPHAS: Any reason why the actual credits are so short?

I just watched some episodes of Alphas and realised, that the names of the cast have a different duration and that got me into counting the frames.
The version I had used 23.976 frames per second, thus David Strathairn's name is shown for one second, the other names are shown longer (up to 37 frames) and shorter (19 frames, for the most complicated name too).

Is the duration regulated via contracts or is SkyFi (or the actual production company and its workers) too fucking stupid to show them for the same duration each?
I can't remember any other credits where there was such a discrepancy, all the names are usually shown for the same length and longer.

As I don't want to hassle with YouTube, I uploaded the opening credits with frame counts onto my DropBox account, if you want to take a look,

I imagine that, SyFy (and networks in general) being the way they are, decided to speed up the original credits a tad in order to cram in more commercials for their various "ghost hunting" programs.

David Strathairn is the only recognizable name on the show; I'm sure there's no intent to screw him over. It's most likely pure coincidence that the part with his name is the one that got sped up.

My problem with the credits is that the names are so small it's hard to notice they're even there amid the clutter of images.

There are still shows that have opening credits? I thought all shows dumped that years ago. :rommie:

Every drama should take the LOST and Supernatural apporach and just show the title card before moving onto the commercials. Showing opening credits make episodes shorter then they have to be.

Only shows that have commercials. Shows on HBO, Showtime etc. don't have to worry about that.

They don't have commercials, but if they got rid of the usual two minute opening they could use that saved time to make the entire episode a little longer. Frankly, I'm tired of seeing the True Blood opening every single time the episode starts.

I've gotten used to the LOST title card approach. Show the title for five seconds and move on already.
