have'nt seen a thread for this show yet so here goes.
from all the commercials it looks real promising. how many out there are going to check it out? and do you think the show will interconnect with euraka or warehouse 13?

I'll watch. I'm hopefully it'll be better than a cheap Heroes retread. I'm not sure I expect much, and I'm sure it'll be the lighter quirky Eureka/Warehouse 13 style, but we can hope, right?

I'm braced for a fairly formulaic show with a bunch of bland, interchangeable characters and David Straitharn as the only real reason to watch.

Which is exactly why I'm looking forward to it. Eureka and W13 are two of my favorite shows, and this appears to be along the same lines, so I'm really looking forward to it. As much as I enjoy stuff like Battlestar Galactica or The Walking Dead, I definitely much prefer stuff that is actually fun to watch like W13, Eueka, and Sanctuary.

well I am counting on it to better than the cape and heroes. and hopefully a replacement for smallville. we will just have to wait and see...

BSG and The Walking Dead ARE fun to watch.

BSG was only fun occasionally. Othertimes it tried to convince you to commit suicide.

Walking Dead is pretty damn fun.

I never found BSG too depressing. I find the "light" shows to be depressing because they're monotonous, uninspired and encourage you not to have to think at all.

I'll give it a shot, although I don't expect much. Eureka is bland but likeable, Warehouse 13 fun and better than it should be. I'd think Alphas would do better to emphasize the dramatic more... I'm not expecting it to be anywhere as good as Heroes was at its height. Or even nadir.

Straitharn brings alot of credibility to this and I like metahuman-esque stuff so I'll check this out for sure

BSG and The Walking Dead are/were often fun to watch for the quality of acting and writing alone. Of the two, wouldn't The Walking Dead be more suicide inducing? It takes place on my home planet, not somebody else's. Sucks to be Caprican - Terrans rule! :D BSG was like watching somebody else's total catastrophe, which appeals to my nasty side.

OTOH, Warehouse 13, Eureka and Sanctuary aren't fun to watch because I get too annoyed/bored and that's not fun.

I'm expecting not nearly as good as Heroes S1, but better than S2-4 (even passably coherent writing should be able to beat that dismal level). But the thing Heroes really had going for it was actors who were a) very talented and charismatic or b) at least very well suited to their role. That's the part where I wonder if Alphas can measure up. Straitharn should be equivalent to Noah Bennett, but imagine Heroes with Noah and a bunch of losers. Ech.

And aren't there a whole lotta genre actors running around with no gigs? Is Ben Browder really out of Alpha's price range? Joel Gresch's show got canned. Robert Knepper's show didn't get picked up. Or how about Noah Bennett himself, Jack Coleman?

Why not? They'll do what it takes to get ratings, and on Skiffy, shows that fit the lightweight formula survive, while more daring and uncategorizable ones like Caprica fail.

the only thing I don't get is why and hour and a half and not a full two premire.
any one know how many episodes the first season will be?

IMDB currently shows 7 episodes straight through (was this previously a Web Series?). So, I suspect a 10 episode half season (2nd half airdate TBD) or a straight up 13 episode season 1. (Of course if season 1.0 doesn't succeed, season 1.5 might not surface)

wow cool I did'nt know this was a previous web series thanks for that. here's hoping for a full 13 episodes.
