The Washington Post reports that Alpha House has been renewed for a second season, while Doonesbury will go another extended hiatus to allow Garry Trudeau to focus on the series. The hiatus will begin on February 24, but will continue to create new Sunday strips.
I'm thrilled the series has been renewed, but sadden (albeit, unsurprised) that Doonesbury will be going on an even longer hiatus than last year. At least we'll still get new Sundays and it sounds like we might get real proper flashback reruns instead of the usual fare of "the past few years." If this is the beginning of the end for "Doonesbury," I hope Garry will have the opportunity and the time to give the strip a good and proper ending.
