Allergies or Death, Give me death.

It seems the mold count in my area has been high the last couple of days. It would also seem my nasal passageways aren't cotton to it. Hence: Misery.

Runny, stuff, nose I feel a bit dizzy and light headed and just... ugh.

There must be something unusual in the area this year as they've not been this bad in a long-assed time.

Many Sudafed (the "We don't want you making meth so here's some shit that doesn't work as the real stuff" variety), an OTC Zyrtec even some cold medicine all pretty much useless.

Ugh.

So, how are all of you guys' allergies holding up?

This entire year has sucked so far, allergy-wise. :ack:

It has been fairly bad for me but the last day or two have just been horrible. It's been years since they've been this bad as they normally don't bother me enough to warrant more than an occasional OTC zyrtec but the last couple days, and a couple of other times this summer, I've been popping pills like Keith Richards.

Fortunately, I don't suffer from any allergies, at least none that I’m aware of. However, I did recently have a rather nasty fungal infection in one ear. Three trips to the ENT specialist, a lot of ear vacuuming, and liberal doses of antifungal powder, and I'm right as rain again. Good thing, ’cause the infection was in my one good ear.

My only allergy is to ragweed, so it doesn't kick in for another month or two. However, when it does, I'm generally miserable.

They got the real pseudo-ephedrine (Sudafed) at the pharamcy counter, at least in California, all you got to do is ask and maybe fill out/sign a form or two.

as for me, my allergies dont get going until hay feeding season (December-May), and only if we are feeding hay that has rye-grass or mold in it.

Lucky me, I have the trifecta of mold, pollen and dust allergies.

Mold and pollen seem to be the biggest problems here in Seattle but this year hasn't been so bad really because of the mild weather. I might have one bad allergy day every other week but a squirt of Afrin (the GOOD kind) and some Sudafed induced sleep (yeah, it's non-groggy but it gives makes me feel disconnected anyway) usually clears it up by the next day. Problem is the drain on my energy level, I usually need a nap those days. One year, though, it was so bad I think I spent half of spring in an allergy induced stupor until I finally went to see a doctor and got a kenalogue shot that cleared it up real fast.

It's always a problem with dust in the air at my parent's. They live in an area that's nearly scrub desert and is windy to boot. During the summer I always take an OTC generic claritin before visiting.

There are days, though, I wish I could just...I dunno chop off my nose to clear my sinuses. That and stop the sneezing. At least it's not as bad as when I was a kid, maybe I've built a little immunity or something.

You're all wimps. I'm allergic to just about everything outside in nature, plus indoor things like dustmites. When they stuck me with a million things to see what I was allergic to, the only one I didn't have a crazy reaction to was animals.

OTC medicines? That's nothing. Come back and complain when you're getting regular allergy shots and can't sit in the grass for even a few minutes before ending up in the hospital.

Winter is my friend.

I managed to have an allergic reaction to who knows what while I was posting in this thread. Am I allergic to Trekkies now too? :(

Just reminded me of some alergic reactions that I experienced:

I drank some organic soy milk, got a strange reaction: tingly mouth, tightness in the chest at the bottom of the ribcage on my sides.

Was also given an antibiotic, my head raced, I got hot, and the lower-right half of my vision (more in my right eye than the left) became like the snow on the picture tube.

My only allergy (that I know of) is to the pollen of the Caifornia Pepper Tree (and not every pepper tree causes a reaction). So as long as I avoid any that are in bloom, I am fine.

Yeah I bought the "fake" stuff at work because that's all we have (no pharmacy in the store) and I needed some, I bought the real Sudafed at another store last night after a made this post and the allergies started acting up horribly again.

That sounds HORRIBLE!!!!

Holy shit, that thing with your vision is really freaky!

To the OP and other sufferers: I'm sorry! I am very fortunate in that i don't suffer from allergies except once in a blue moon. But my son is highly allergic to lilacs (and some other things). His ENT prescribed a medication but also a nasal spray of some sort that really made a difference. If you haven't spoken to your doctor about a nasal spray, maybe you can try that .

I was almost always stuffy when I lived in Indiana. I assume I am allergic to corn pollen or something. I've been fine since moving to New Jersey, though. Very rarely do I get a bout of allergies.

Then it would be an autoimmune syndrome. ;)

I never suffered to allergies, but in recent years I find myself with a bit of a running nose during spring. Nothing out of ordinary, but it's noticeable. Since my fiancée is strongly allergic to pollen, my theory is that she somehow passed it to me. Not in the clinical, infectious sense, but in the "stay together long enough and you will become similar" sense.
