'All You Need Is Kill' sci-fi war thriller in dev.with Doug Liman

The Warner Bros. project, based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka's graphic novel, follows a new recruit in a war against aliens. He finds himself caught in a time loop where he wakes up one day in the past after having been killed on the battlefield. Through the training and battles he experiences in these time loops, he becomes a better soldier.

All You Need Is Kill is based on a Japanese novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka and involves a futuristic warrior killed in action only to have to repeat his battle again and again until he gets it right. Sounds a wee bit like a sci-fi version of Groundhog Day

Unfortunately, this also sounds very similar to Duncan Jones’s new project Source Code, which involves similar time loops, so Liman might not be out of the woods quite yet.
