Spoilers All Things STAR WARS - News, Speculation & Spoilers Thread

We are one year away from the original theatrical cut of Star Wars coming to theaters.

I was way too young to see this when it first released so I'll probably check it out. Plus, it's a nice F.U to Lucas who fought tooth and nail for decades to keep this locked away.

Now can we please get the original films on 4K ?

Here's a webpage at starwars.com. This is very good news. I pledge to see it at least as many times as I saw it theatrically first run as a boy, at least six times.

Fortnite is a video game and also a gaming platform. Initially, it was just a battle royale game, but now it has integrated the likenesses of famous people, as well as characters from studios and streaming platforms’ own productions, making them playable in the game. Besides the battle royale mode, there are also games called Fortnite: Save the World and Fortnite Creative.

Additionally, The Walt Disney Company owns a 10% stake in Fortnite and has partnered with Epic Games to build a virtual park within the platform. Moreover, many characters, including those from The Simpsons, have been added to the game. Major Disney events such as D23 Expo have also been livestreamed on the platform.
no, initially, it was a single and multiplayer survival crafter thing a bit like minecraft and 7 days 2 die. the battle royale part was added when pubg and dayz and stuff became popular with those modes

Finally we fans win! Han will now officially shoot first again!

Han didn't shoot first. Han shot. There was no second.

What exactly was his objection?

To Han shooting or the originals? He felt that Han shooting "unprovoked" made him a murderer in his very first scene. (Seriously.)

He didn't feel the originals were "finished". (Never mind that part of "finishing" them involved technology tests for the prequels. Who thought that Empire was missing an extended sequence of Vader traveling to his Star Destroyer?)

But really, I think it was just a pissing match between him and the fans. If the SEs had been better received I'm sure he would have been happy to release the originals. "Ha ha ha. Those old things? sure!" He seems very put off that anyone would prefer the originals to the SEs.

It's like the prequels: We never saw Luke, Han, and Leia again after Return of the Jedi in Lucas produced visual media. But hoooo boy, we have all the Anakin Skywalker we could possibly want with 133 episodes of Clone Wars. "No, really. These characters are BELOVED. You'll see." And eventually he was right. People were even excited for Hayden to come back for Ahsoka and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Can we have 133 episodes set between Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back? "Well, no, because we know how that story ends, of course." But we didn't for Clone Wars?!?

When Disney erased the old canon and started doing their own shows, a Clone Wars-esque animated show set between ANH and TESB should have been the easiest decision ever. Instead they relegated that era to comic books. (Which I still enjoy, mind you, but a TV show would have been even better.)

I'm definitely planning on checking out the Star Wars stuff on Fornite in the near future. I played it a little bit when they were doing The Simpsons stuff and it was pretty fun.
Here's a nice little overview of the different Star Wars games

Artists do. All the time.

Artists do. All the time.
As Oscar Wilde supposedly said, "Books are never finished, they are merely abandoned." I would add to that, some are more abandoned than others.

While I didn't care for Lucas picking his "merely abandoned" films back up and tinkering with them, and I thought some of the changes were especially poor (like adding Hayden to Return), ultimately he had that right.

I certainly hope the restorations for the subsequent films aren't held back artificially for ESB and RotJ's 50th anniversaries, and they do a 4k disc/streaming release for the entire trilogy next year, rather than waiting until 2033 before letting them all out on home video.

I wonder if the film’s original version will come to Disney+ later. Anyway, I haven’t gone to the cinema in a long time. If nothing happens to me by then, I’ll probably go watch this version of the film. Nowadays, I usually wait for movies to come to streaming services or watch them through piracy. The reasons are that tickets are expensive, and chain cinemas keep dimming the projector lights. Also, we no longer have cinema theaters like in America with huge curtains and massive halls that feel like performing arts venues with thousands of seats. Almost all movie theaters here are small 100-seat halls inside shopping malls. So at this point, I either go to the cinema once a year or not at all anymore.

Me too. There is very few films that come out anymore where I say "Ooh. Got to see that one as soon as possible." The only movie I saw in theaters last year was Superman. This year I did go see Scream 7, but have no plans for anything else "new."
