"All Our Yesterdays" Observation/Question

I always find it funny that after Spock and McCoy get back to the library, the three of them take their time in leaving. I remember Scotty is telling Kirk that it is now or never, I am beaming you up anyway. The planet is about to be destroyed and Scotty is going to defy Kirk to get him back. There is a real sense that the planet is going to be destroyed right now. Then Kirk, Spock and McCoy have their special moment talking about Spock's great love now being dead. Get off the planet guys, you can talk about Zarabeth when you get back to the Enterprise:) .

They weren't about to spend money for filming on the ship for 5 lines of dialogue. There were zero ship interior shots in that episode.

Is that the only TOS episode to contain no shipboard scenes? I think it might be.

It has to be! Metamorphosis and Plato's had zero "big 3" on the ship -- but a few scenes with Scott and bridge crew on the bridge only.
Was there one episode where zero scenes were on the bridge (besides "...Yesterdays") -- or am I thinking of Next Gen?

Maybe "Cloud Minders"? Any bridge scenes in Cloud Minders?

By the late A.C. Crispin.

I believe Yesterday's Son was the first original STAR TREK novel to ever hit the New York Times Bestseller List (as opposed to a movie novelization).
I loved both novels. The idea of Spock having a son thrilled me.

Yes. The episode opens with Kirk entering a Captain's Log on the bridge about a botanical plague on another planet.

Well, Zarabeth implies that she's all alone in that ice age, but that doesn't mean that humanoid life didn't evolve on the planet later on. Or that there weren't primitive hominids on another continent on the other side of the planet . . ..

Hell, she's wearing furs, which kinda indicates that some of kind of mammals have evolved already. :)

When Zarabeth laments that she's all alone in that time and place; she's talking about human companionship, not animal life. Presumably there are some kind of primates running around somewhere, who will eventually evolve into humanoids, but they're not exactly boyfriend material yet . .. and won't be for millions of years.

Maybe Zor Khan gave her the bearskins as a gesture of his humanity? Wonder if Zor was any relation to a certain Noonien Singh?

That's a cute predestination paradox, if their entire civilization were the descendants of the criminals Zor Khan sent to the distant past.

It would also mean that the Sarpeidon people were working on the concept of time travel even from their stone age! They knew the ending was coming maybe millions of years later but put all their resources into creating The Atavachron all through their long dark history and possibly in secret as to not alarm the citizens who weren't from the future!
