Aliens Vs Predator #3, Its time!

Hello all,
I ocasionally check in on the alien and predator franchises, I haven't watched the new predator movie ( No spoilers please!) but read it has "Underpreformed" so the "trilogy" or something I head that Shane Black had in mind is probably mute.
The Alien franchise has seemingly stalled as well, and with Ridley Scott going the Replicant/robot route instead of showing the Xenomorphs, that leaves it at a dead end as well

However, They are still a great franchise, and will come back in some form sooner or latter, so I'm soap boxing for an Aliens Vs Predator movie! I loved the first one, Second one, ugh.. and it was to dark ( literally.. couldn't see a darn thing!)
I think its time to move the Predator franchise ahead in time, inline with the Aliens movies. We can do the novels/ comics versions, ( which have been hit or miss, I've read the novels, interesting) or our own thing for the movie. Throw in some Colonial Marines, we have ourselves a party! :)
What do ya'll think?

I would love to see a proper adaptation of the Dark Horse Presents/mini series. Colonial Marines I could do without though

Let's face it, we haven't had a decent Predator movie since 1990, and we haven't had a decent Alien movie since 1986 - instead of building upon inferior sequels/prequels, why not just wipe the slate clean for both franchises? Remake Predator and Predator 2 and Alien and Aliens, release an alternate movie every year from each franchise like Disney does for Star Wars, and have Predator 3 come out after the Aliens remake and feature Colonial Marines caught in the crossfire of a Predator-Alien hunt. And they could also finally come up with a decent version of Alien 3 that will tie up that trilogy more satisfyingly.

Don't get me wrong, I love the first two Predator and Alien movies, but I think they're overdue for a remake; instead of trying to hammer square pegs like Prometheus and Covenant into the round hole of Alien continuity and fretting about how the tech looks different, why not create a whole new shared universe with a shared aesthetic, and - heresy, I know - redesign the Predator and the Alien to be scary and mysterious and unknowable again? Ridley Scott did some interesting things with the David character, but his prequels just don't tie in no matter how hard you squint. And why should we let him spoil our fun by saying that Alien vs Predator mash-ups are non-canon? A lot of the fans want these two franchises to be a shared universe - just keep Ridley Scott and Shane Black away from it.

I've always loved the first three Alien movies. Resurrection is okay. I like the idea of a Ripley/Xenomorph hybrid, it's just the tone of the movie is goofy with some really weird acting. I recently rewatched Predator (one of my all time favorite movies) and the underappreciated Predator 2 (which I think is pretty close to being as good as the first). Predators sucked ass on my rewatch.

I also tried rewatching AvP: Alien vs. Predator. Holy crap that was a boring ass movie! I fell asleep halfway through. None of it made sense. Why did the Predators leave their guns out in the open to be picked up by random humans? Who thought it would be exciting setting it in Antarctica (Paul W.S. Anderson, I know the answer :p )? I thought the backstory with the Predators building the pyramids and using primitive humans as hosts for the facehuggers was infinitely more interesting than what we got.

If it were still the late 80s/early 90s I would have loved to have seen an Aliens vs. Predator movie set in space (kind of like the comics) but team up Arnold's Dutch with Danny Glover's Harrigan and have the Colonial Marines led by Michael Biehn's Hicks and possibly Ripley for an all-out action movie (I know Aliens is set a hundred and something years in the future, so there'd be some hurtles explaining how Dutch and Harrigan are still alive and how Hicks survived the Sulaco, but I'm sure it'd be an easy explanation)

I recently re-watched both AVP films, the unrated versions this time, and I don't get why the films got so much hate. I'm not saying either is the high point of either franchise but they do deliver on Predator versus xenomorph action, while adding more interesting nuggets to the mythology than I felt for recent The Predator film. Admittedly I did not like AVP when it came out, but I never had a problem with AVP: R except it was shot so darkly it was hard to follow the action. I wouldn't mind a follow-up to the AVP: R story which had a nice hook at the end.

That being said I would love to see another AVP film that included the Colonial Marines. Make Dave Bautista the main Marine and there you go.

I actually like AvP: Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem a lot better than the first. The Wolf Predator is a badass and it's cool seeing him go from cool and collected at the beginning to more and more pissed off the more the situation spirals out of control. The Predalien is pretty neat too. The scene in the hospital with it impregnating alien eggs into the pregnant women then multiple xenomorphs busting out of their wombs is creepy as fuck. I only wish they'd shot the movie with some lights on, because most of the time you can't make out a damn thing that's going on!
