TNT
...greenlights to three series on Thursday as part of its ongoing push to stock its primetime sked with original fare.

Robert Rodat ("Saving Private Ryan") wrote pilot from an idea he conceived with Spielberg.
...and an untitled alien invasion drama from Steven Spielberg -- stood out among the many projects on the cabler's wide-ranging development slate because of the distinctiveness of the lead characters and their settings.

The untitled alien invasion drama hails from DreamWorks TV. "ER" alum Noah Wyle stars as a leader of a ragtag group of people in the present day who fight to save humanity after an alien invasion.
Spielberg, Rodat and DreamWorks TV heads Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank are exec producers.

The Wyle project is targeted for 2011 in order to give the producers time to work out all the intricacies of production and vfx and to give TNT time to prep a mega marketing campaign.

Jan. 21, 2010,

Is this supposed to be the cable TV competition to
'Alien Nation' to be remade by TIM MINEAR on SyFy

Re: alien invasion series with Noah Wyle for 2011 on TNT from Dreamwor

I haven't heard anything about the Alien Nation remake in awhile and Tim Minear who was attached to it is now being said to be with the Questor Tapes show. Maybe SyFy passed on the Alien Nation remake like that Moon Colony revolution show.

Although if Alien Nation is remade it's not really much of an 'invasion' type scenario. They crash land here and end up like refugees. I think the competition would be V (assuming it is renewed and actually still around).

It's funny when this was announced before the TV season it seemed like we had a glut of alien invasion shows. ABC was coming out with V, NBC was doing their Day One post alien apocalypse show and then we heard about this. Well V could wind up canceled and NBC has reduced Day One from a 13 ep series to a two hour movie.

Yep, at least we have TNT. Odds are they will give their show a chance to thrive and let it's audience grow. I haven't heard of TNT canceling any of their original dramas after one season. And with Spielberg and Wyle's name attached I don't expect this to be the first flop either.

Re: alien invasion series with Noah Wyle for 2011 on TNT from Dreamwor

I'm not so sure that people are really looking for an alien invasion show right now but who knows.

Not particularly - rather than trotting out a new take on alien invasions, I'd prefer that V be refurbished to not be so plain vanilla and someone bring back Invasion (which could have been a truly fascinating series, from the pov of the "alien" invaders who may not have been technically alien at all) - or hey, how about space opera, anyone remember that?

But at least it's sci fi. Half the 2010-11 pilot season is being gobbled up by frakkin cop shows. I'll take an alien invasion show or four or five.

Well, it's got Noah Wyle in it. That's enough right there for me to at least check it out once.

"Fallen Skies" mid-2011 on TNT

That untitled Steven Spielberg post-apocalyptic TV show about alien invaders starring Noah Wylie, and scheduled to run on TNT? It now has a name: "Fallen Skies",

"Fallen Skies" is scheduled to premiere sometime in mid-2011 on TNT, and will star Noah Wyle and Moon Bloodgood as the leads, and co-star Jessy Schram, Seychelle Gabriel and Maxim Knight, with Steven Spielberg producing.

The pilot is from Robert Rodat ("Saving Private Ryan"), and will follow human resistance fighters led by Wylie as they hide out int he mountains and strike back at the invaders in the aftermath of a successful alien invasion that nearly wipes out the human population.
