Alfred Hitchock Presents

I have never seen this show before. Its made in the 1955, and they are little self contained stories. Mr. Hitchcock is like Rod Sterling and he shows up at the begining to set the episode up and he is, IMO, quite funny at times...

And there are some pretty big stars..Joseph Cotten, Vera Miles, even the late John Forsyte.

Anyway, if you have NETFLIX its free for streaming in the "new TV release" section...check it out, it is pretty cool.

huh...he was dead by that time, I think, so did they remake some of the older episodes with newer actors? Sounds pretty good..or was it?

Best anthology series ever.

The first three (of seven) seasons can be seen on hulu.com.

Hulu also has "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour", which is what the show was called when it expanded from half-hour to hour format. All three of these seasons are there, but five episodes are missing.

I loved this show growing up! I have a few seasons in my netflix streaming queue, too. I think it might have been available briefly on hulu as well. AHP isn't as stellar as the Twilight Zone, perhaps, but its up there with Night Gallery and tales from the Darkside as far as anthologies go.

Besides that, the opening theme and the tubby Hitchcock shadow walking in are great!

Actually I think AHP is a better series overall than TZ, much more consistent in quality. There is a reason for this. AHP got nearly all of its stories from pre-extant short stories, so they always had a wealth of good material. By contrast, the vast majority of the Zone's stories were all original.

Capsules of Shatner's two AHP performances can be found in this thread I posted long ago:

Here's Shatner's first appearance, "The Glass Eye", on Hulu. Alas, his second is neither yet on dvd, Hulu or Netflix.

Just watched "The Glass Eye". It's rather good. And, bonus, in the last scene, the girl calls Shatner "Jim"! :-P
