Alexei Cherepanov has passed away...

I don't know if a lot of you follow hockey or the prospects but New York Rangers prospect Alexei Cherepanov collapsed on the bench and died at a hospital later on. He was taken 17th overall in the 2007 draft and was playing for Avangard Omsk with former New York Ranger Jaromir Jagr. He had the option of coming over to the Rangers next year. He was only 19. :( Such a tragic ending...

YA I do. I'm a Rangers fan too. This is just scary. Apparently the defibs there didnt work and they had to recall the ambulance..

I also heard, not confirmed, that Jagr may have bumped into him and after that he collapsed........

Terrible.
 
They still don't know what happened but after Zholtok tragically passed away a few years ago, you would think? And then I believe Fischer had the same problem but they saved him. Scary.

And the 'sporting news' treats it like an afterthought...
 
19?! He was still a fucking child, barely a very young adult! What a truly shitty, shitty year for notable people.
 
Been tough in hockey: two notable players have passed away: Luc Bourdon and Alexei Cherepanov. Clint Mativchuk or whatever his name is, the guy that got his jugular vein sliced shot himself accidentally in the chin as well.

that was Clint Malarchuk, and that is/was a scary site that can still be seen on the net (Not for the faint of heart)

and condelences to Alexei Cherepanov's family freinds & team mates.

I am a hockey fan (go Wings!!) and find this sad. Wonder if he had some heart ailment no one caught in his physical.

You don't have to be a fan of the sport to understand the pain that this death signifies. There is some discussion about this painful loss, already started here.
