Alan Horn debunks "Batman" rumors, talks "Green Lantern"

Warner Bros. studio executive Alan Horn had a chance recently to address the currently swirling casting rumors for another Batman installment. Here's what he said to say:

“We’ve been talking to Chris Nolan and what we have to do is get him in the right place and have him tell us what he thinks the notion might be for a great story, but Chris did a great job and we’d love to have him come back and do another one.”

He also said that the studio is waiting for Nolan to come up with a story and to come to them, and that they are more than willing to wait until Nolan does that.

I have to say that I'm not surprised by the news, but reassured. From the looks of it, it seems that Nolan has expressed some interest of returning to WB and in order to let that come to fruition, WB is going to be as amiable and agreeable as humanly possible. In essence, Nolan has WB by the balls.

Also, Horn also talked about one of DC's other biggest properties, Green Lantern. He said it is "very close" to start rolling and begin production, and that Australia is one of the many countries vying for the film to shoot there.

All in all, fantastic news I'd say. I'm a bit more excited about the GL news though, because it finally seems like there might be something happening on that front!

I'm wondering about that previous article where everyone was waiting for Nolan because he had 3 franchises in his hands. Superman, Batman, Green Lantern.

I certainly hope that is not the case. I think Green Lantern has a serious chance of happening. Rumor is Nolan wants to do his planned remake/"re-imagining" of The Prisoner before -- and if -- he decides to do another Batman. Which will certainly prolong development and the chance of Nolan's involvement being confirmed and known (thus, by extension, prolonging those two projects even more).

Green Lantern has a reasonably solid script, a talented director at the helm and for the first time seems to be shaping up. I don't want Warner Bros to throw away that just because they're waiting on Nolan, which even Alan Horn seemed to admit could be a long while.

I thought there was to be a tv version of The Prisoner, with Jim Cavaziel as No. 6 and Ian McKellen as No. 2. Wouldn't that nix any big screen version?

Either way, good to see that WB have the wit to wait for Nolan to make his Batman 3 and to do it right, rather than hiring Brett Ratner or whoever to rush a new one out for the sake of it.

I'm not really a GL fan, but I'm sure a movie version could be fantastic if done right. Sounds like something that should be done by someone with the clout of Ridley Scott or Jim Cameron. Then again, nothing in Jon Favreau's back catalogue suggested that he could make as great a blockbuster as Iron Man, so maybe they should take a chance on an up & coming director.

There was an episode of Bones last year where Davey was starkers in the bathtub reading a Green Lantern comic from the early 80s... I said to myself what an odd choice from the propsmaster to subtly advertise New Frontier?

I can see in my mind how easy it would be to make a completely shit Green lantern Movie that barely amounts to more than an episode of Knight Rider or the Dukes of Hazzard where Hal roughs land developers trying to buy up coast city who whire a biker gang to rough up the locals.

Alan Horn talks Superman

Collider.com spoke with Warner Bros. President Alan Horn to see where they were at with their superhero movies.

• I then ask when we might be seeing another Superman. "Probably in the next couple of years. We're very anxious to bring Superman back also."

• 
  I then say Green Lantern? "Also on the board. On the runway. Hasn't taken off yet, but we're close."
  
  I finally ask what he thinks the next Superhero property might be from Warner Bros. He says "I think Green Lantern is probably the best guess but I can't promise it at this moment."

I remembering reading something just like this when I was in eighth grade.

I think the name "Nicholas Cage" went with it.
