For some reason, I thought Cumming was also cast as the Doctor circa 2000/2001 in some Bill Baggs project for one of the local BBC stations as some sort of "backdoor" way of making Doctor Who (something Baggs was an expert at), until the plug was pulled when someone said, "No, you can't do that." ETA: I was off by three years. It was 2004, and it was BBC South. Easy to see why the BBC scuttled this; the RTD series was imminent.
Alan Cumming had a central role in one of Bill Baggs' not-Who but with lots of Who actors productions... either Air Zone Solution or Zero Imperative.
