After reading through the "Probert/Sternbach" critique...

Apparently the "Probert redo sketch" passed right over my head. Would you care to provide a link, please?

My mother was recently hospitalized so I have been a bit out of touch lately.

Sorry to hear that. Hope all is well.

Almost has an arrowhead look to it...

Thank you! Yes, things are improving.

Andy's modification does add more of a balanced flow to the overall design so much so that the new "E" now appears to have had its original primary hull replaced by an older model, imho. While I do like the ship I can now understand and appreciate some of the criticisms concerning the "kitbash look."

While I really respect Andrew's design work and artistic talent, and he has designed some FANTASTIC ships over the years, on this matter, I respectfully disagree. I really prefer what we got to his sketch. For me, the saucer, nacelles and secondary hull combination is the Enterprise. You can play with the proportions and the shapes a little, but I think keeping those basic elements is important.

I am biased of course, cause I do like the new design, but his design is exactly what I did not want to see from in this movie. One thing I love about the TOS ship is the saucer that is still a circle, not an oval, and I am glad they kept that. I think that his design takes it TOO far away from the original, even if the movie was intended as a remake. To me, and I love discussing starship design, this ship is a a nice update to the TOS design. I know some may disagree with me, but it was much nicer then what I feared we would get. I honestly thought we would get something that was very very close to the original ship, or something that was way out of left field, and with this design I think they met in the middle. Similar elements, but with some changes.
