Admiral William Ross

Distorted Humor

I must say, this is the one Admiral in starfleet I would NOT want to mess with. :techman: I also think that minor reoccurring characters like Admiral Ross is what really sets apart ds9 from the other treks, the high quality of these reoccurring characters, and while he not the first one to come to mind, I had to show him a little love as he what I think of as a top starfleet officer. A velvet fist, who will try to work things out, but if not, you will have starfleet after you, and he is willing to make very tough choices.

I agree completely!. I think Barry Jenner did a great job as Admiral Ross. I have not seen much of him since Trek though. I will have to IMDb that. :)
I looked it up and guess is retired. He hasn't done anything since 2001.

Correct me if I'm wrong but was Admiral Ross one of the very few seemingly competent admirals in Star Trek?

Admiral Nechayev was a pretty competent Admiral. But yeah, I agree we saw a lot of incompetent and or crazy admirals in 24th century Starfleet. Talk about the Peter Principle

Perhaps they are still recovering from the losses from "Conspiracy" :guffaw:

Liked the actor and character and symbolised lot of what DS9 did better than other series, which was make great regular/consistent use of recurring characters (esp. Martok) and give them some development. The one issue I had with Ross as others have noted is that he didn't come across as overly concerned/skeptical about the Sisko-Prophet thing and conflict of interest with SF duty.

Well, after Sisko put the boot in on Bajoran membership he probably didn't see any mileage in taking a strong issue with that. One of those tough decisions...

I like the character because he did actually seem like a competent flag officer, as opposed to those idiot commodores or insane rogue admirals that Trek is famous for.

I like too, that he has the same name as my brother.
