Adam Turner's Galatea (Slightly OT)

Icy_Penguigo

Hey guys. Galatea is a comic book that I wrote and illustrated several years back. It was published for a brief time but my publisher went out of business. I was just looking at and reminiscing about it and I decided I wanted to show it to you guys.

I'm not a very good writer, but someday I was hoping to re-write this and remake it better. Anyway, check it out:

"Galatea" Chapter 1

"Galatea" Chapter 2

"Galatea" Chapter 3

This is just some of the extra goodies I was going to include. The main thing in here is the "Addenda", a section I was going to have in each book that explained background information that I couldn't shoe-horn into the story:

Let me know what you guys think!

woot! globally binky!

a bit of a 'battle angel, year one billion' vibe to it?

Good solid artwork, though not a style I've ever worked with.
I wouldn't worry about the plot or dialogue so much, I worked on DKA for two years and for the most part had no clue what was going on...even after I became de facto co-editor. ;)

Very nice, Adam -- thanks for sharing it with us. I'd like to see more. Is this as far as the story got?

No criticisms, but it's a shame you couldn't sneak a Federation freighter or Kzinti warship in anywhere. [wink]

Aside from some weak plotting and dialogue, the overall story was strong and interesting.

Yeah....writing isn't really my strong suit. But I had the idea, and wanted to get it out. Maybe one of these days I'll hook up with a real writer who'd want to work on this project with me.

Very observant, sir. ;) Yeah, this is as far as this version of the story got. I had a partial script for the next part written but it was nowhere near a completed form.

Thanks guys! :)

I'm in love! "Lia" is just so petitely cute with those pouty Angilina Jolie lips and that repressed feral side. Of course, being the near rabid "Gally/Alita" fan that I am, it's easy to see why I like your character. Ooh! chapter three, shower scene with heartfelt "girl on girl" hugging! Yay!

Yes, I am a "horndog"!

Sincerely,

Bill

LOL! Yeah, I can't deny my love for Battle Angel either, especially after showing this. ;) Kishiro-sensei is one of my heroes as an artist.

Although this project had its genesis as just a sci-fi universe I had been designing and plotting out for many years. Only later, when I decided I wanted to write a comic book set within it, did the character of Lia come to be.

But I have given her story extensive thought. Even if I have difficulty plotting out individual issues, I have her entire overall story arc outlined. And believe me when I say, she goes from being a completely obscure figure in this setting to being one of the single most important individuals in the history of sentient life.

As far as fanservice goes, I likes me the hot ladies as well. And I figure a bit of sexiness from time to time can't HURT sales. ;) Although I try to keep it around PG-13 rating, even if it pushes that rating as far as it can go sometimes!

Also, here is a gallery of random pieces of Galatea-related artwork I have done over the years(be warned, some of these pictures contain partial to full nudity):

Not bad, Adam... not bad!

(I keep thinking of the GTD Galatea from Freespace: The Great War!)

Oh, and I like the Star Fleet Captain! (Her hands are a bit big, though.)

The title Galatea came from greek mythology for me. I couldn't really think of a particularly great title, but I kept thinking of the statue of a woman animated by Pygmalion to be his wife. Kind of a loose and abstract connection, I know. But the NXG animated Lia to be their savior, so I figured that connection was enough. :p

Ever think of re-working some of the ideas into a Star Fleet Universe story?

(I'd love to see an Omega or Cloud-based story drawn up by yourself...)

Oh, no, no, no! I know this is a Trek oriented board, but keep it an original concept! Place it in Roddenberry litterbox (Oops, I mean, sandbox) and you won't be able to do anything with it professionally. You'd have to give up all rights, and the PTB will strip it of everyting that made it unique, your personal vision!

Don't worry. I have no intention of releasing the rights to any aspect of Galatea prematurely. Even if ADB wanted to do something with part of it, I'd make sure I still own it first.
