The campaign will roll out in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Columbia, and Peru, beginning with today's launch of the Explore Beyond Limits website, which includes videos that splice together footage from the film and shots of Acer products, as well as exclusive wallpapers with shots from the movie.
The joint campaign will also incorporate broadcast and online videos, digital and print advertising, outdoor media, retail merchandising, social marketing, and Web promotions.
"Acer aspires to help consumers explore beyond limits with products that are progressive and futuristic," Hughes Gontier, senior director of marketing for Acer America, said in a statement. "And Star Trek Into Darkness is the perfect embodiment of those brand values."
In fact, the J.J. Abrams-helmed film served as Acer's inspiration behind its new campaign; the manufacturer pointed to the movie's "rich and thoughtful storytelling, visual effects and exploration theme" as the motivation for its futuristic marketing strategy.
"Star Trek Into Darkness provides us with an outstanding platform to communicate messages about Acer's touch-optimized mobile product line, while also promoting the release of this highly anticipated movie," Gontier said.
