About this one bridge in the episode "Parallels."

The Rock

Sorry for the bad quality of the pic! I screenied it from YouTube.

So for this alternate reality bridge, with no seats on either side of the captain's chair, are we supposed to believe that Worf and Troi just stand there next to Riker all the time?

If so, I can't imagine how awkward that'd be for all three involved (especially Riker)!

And all the back pain that would follow! (And pain everywhere else when the ship is attacked.)

Maybe they just get called the the Bridge from the ready room where they normally sit and converse about whatever during the interim?

Yeah that bridge didn't make a lot of sense...especially since, iirc they are at war and would see more battle than in the prime universe, you want to give them seats. With seatbelts. So that they don't get thrown through the room each time the ship gets hit.
(Though those seat belts would also be a good idea for the prime universe. Also consoles that don't explode each time the ship shakes a bit)

Maybe the chairs were there normally but during battle situations Captain Picard, much like a Sunday School teacher, tells everybody "Chairs away now please, chairs away".

Cut to Troi, Riker and Worf stacking up their chairs neatly, over to one side.

Since the Kelvin movies, this bridge always reminded me on the one of the NCC-1701 of that universe ;)

In retrospect, did Worf have possibly visited the Kelvin universe in this episode and was this possibly the first appearance of the KT??

Also, why would Starfleet put a big sheet of perspex blocking half the bridge access?

If budget was out the window, of course, I imagine this bridge would have been the one to show the Enterprise as a much smaller ship and crew, hence the lack of crew/seats and tighter camera angles.

Difference is, most Sunday school classrooms don't get periodically shaken, rattled, and rolled by enemy phaser fire... as far as I know anyway. Been awhile since I taught Sunday school regularly.

1)It's one of the universes we're Riker is Captain
2)That makes no sense
3) and is not really funny, even if you were going for a joke

But ceiling rocks are essential, I'm glad you kept them.

For that bridge they should have moved Worf and Riker to the horseshoe (with two seats), it doesn't have to be a tactical console and could just as well serve as the station for both them them, removing their center seats but still keeping them close to the captain. Wesley as the tactical officer gets Data's seat and Data can get one of the aft consoles, there's really no reason why the second front console has to be ops.
Giving the existing set pieces different functions would have also shown a difference in addition to the different carpets and stuff they added to the set.

Perhaps Worf's standard place is on the battle bridge, and Troi's is in her office, all because of the neverending wars XD
Or Worf has a more pivotal wartime role behind the captain, hence the permanent ship's schematic/touchscreen thingamabob, probably for like a damage control interface or something, while Tactical is using the TAC station for split second offensives, as Helm & OPS are busy maneuvering & relaying enemy maneuvers. The science stations have probably been reallocated as well, much like Jellico rearranged when he took over. I mean, the question kind of answers itself, when you realize that Worf, & not Data, is XO. It's an active job, for a wartime command crew, not a shot calling chair job.

Troi probably doesn't even belong on that bridge most of the time, except Worf, her husband, is clearly not himself.

Ever since TMP, I've always wondered if TOS was far more the exception to the rule--of the first officer having a seat on the bridge. Spock was pulling double duty as science officer, so having a chair there made sense, but in TMP, First Officer Decker didn't have a chair when he was acting solely as XO. He was moving from bridge station to bridge station to coordinate things, allowing Kirk to focus solely on the Enterprise's mission rather than its operations.

I kind of thought this alternate version of the Enterprise-D was something of a throwback to TMP. Perhaps under normal conditions, First Officer Worf would be behind the horseshoe with the aft bridge stations and Troi only there at all when called upon...

Well, realistically, would the captain and first normally stand watch together? Or would they stand seperate watches, so there'd be a command level officer on the bridge more often.

It might be better to think of a starship bridge as more like mission control than a naval bridge. The latter is ‘night’ shift

McCoy doesn't read minds.

I would think that every capital ship would have an beneath or telepath onboard, given Troi's ability to dispense sound tactical advice.
