I haven't watched the trailers yet, but the descriptions I've read of Emergence sound really familiar.

"Emergence is about a police chief who takes in a young child she finds near the site of a mysterious accident who has no memory of what has happened. The investigation draws her into a conspiracy larger than she ever imagined, and the child's identity is at the center of it all."

Wasn't there a show just like this that premiered a couple of seasons ago (or maybe even last fall) and was quickly canceled? It starred a male police chief who finds a kid, then it turns out she's part alien or something...I could be so wrong about this, but I swear it happened.

Because that's the plot point of several very quickly canceled TV shows throughout the years. Last year it was about humans traveling from the future to mess up the past and they all landed in Maine. I forgot the name of the show.

The Crossing from ABC last season. It crashed and burned quickly. It's been 9 years since Lost ended and ABC is still trying create the next Lost. They keep failing. it's only a matter of time until they reboot Lost.

Yes! That was it.

They really do seem obsessed with creating the next mystery maybe-sci-fi-maybe-not show where we seek answers that shall never be found. They need to realize that what made Lost popular was not necessarily its genre, but that it was different from most TV on at the time. It basically created a whole new sub-genre of show. Instead of replicating that, they should try to figure out what the next new genre/sub-genre will be and make that show.

And I can't believe it's been 9 years...my god how time has flown.

I honestly don't know why ABC won't bring LOST back. It could be a completely different show on a magical island that we never got a lot of answers too. It could literally be anything on that show yet somehow ABC hasn't brought it back. Maybe when this newest show fails again.
